Assembly of a pylon by Sarens and Nederhoff

At Hollandia in Krimpen a/d IJssel (NL), a bridge destined for Ireland was being built. In order to erect the bridge pylon in the correct position, Sarens from Dordrecht (NL) was called in.

In total, four cranes were deployed to raise the 265-tonne, 47-metre-long pylon from horizontal position and place it on the foundation. They are the Demag AC 700, Demag AC 650 and Liebherr LTM 1400-7.1 of Sarens and the Demag AC 650 of Nederhoff.

The Demag AC 700 and AC 650 of Sarens are both lifting the upper section of the pylon, while the Liebherr LTM 1400-7.1 of Sarens and the Demag AC 650 of Nederhoff are attached at the lower end.

The Demag AC 700 and AC 650 are both operating here with a 55.5-metre main boom and guying. The Liebherr LTM 1400-7.1 is working here with a 41.1-metre guyed main boom and the Demag AC 650 of Nederhoff is working here with a 35.5-metre main boom.

The fine Demag AC 650 of Sarens is erected with 160 tonnes of ballast.

The heavy pylon will be welded to the bridge deck; for erection and transport, the pylon will be supported. This bridge is nowadays erected in Dublin (IR) and is called Samuel Beckett Bridge.

A magnificent and impressive operation carried out by the professionals of Sarens!
