Here, the impressive Demag CC 2800 of Yew Choon from Singapore (SG) was used for loading heavy piles from the storage area onto a large pontoon. Both the tugboats and the pontoon also belong to the Yew Choon fleet.

The piles weigh approximately 165 tonnes. Each is placed on the pontoon at a maximum radius of 30 metres.

For transporting the piles within the yard, this impressive MAN TGX 41.680 with a 12-axle Goldhofer trailer was used.

The impressive Demag CC 2800 was built in 2003. For the lifting work, the crane was placed on mats to ensure better load distribution across the quay.

The rigging is tight, the lifting operations are about to begin!

The pile is picked up at a short radius, and the crane then slews approximately a quarter turn to the right.

Before the crawler crane can increase its radius, 220 tonnes of superlift ballast must be attached to the superlift mast.

The CC 2800 is configured here with a 60-metre main boom.

The radius is kept relatively short, and the superlift ballast does not hang free. The crane therefore cannot slew, so the pontoon is moved into position with the help of the tugboats to place the load in the correct spot on the pontoon.

A fine lifting operation by Yew Choon!
