The fine Kobelco SL6000 of Bok Seng from Singapore (SG) was deployed in mid-2022 to lift a tunnel boring machine (TBM). The crane was erected on a nicely prepared platform. It is a 550-tonne crawler crane built in 2008.

The carrier is 11.49 metres long and 9.9 metres wide. The crawler tracks are 11.49 metres long, 1.5 metres wide and 1.79 metres high. The weight per piece is 40 tonnes.

Here, the crane was erected in STD configuration. A fine detail is the two hoist winches mounted on the boom base section. The crane is powered by a Hino E13C-UV, a 12.9-litre 6-cylinder diesel engine with an output of 320 kW (439 hp). The diesel engine drives a total of six hydraulic pumps.

A total of 180 tonnes of ballast is mounted on the superstructure; the ballast consists of a 20-tonne base plate and a total of sixteen blocks weighing 10 tonnes each.

In STD configuration, the main boom has a maximum length of 84 metres. Here, the main boom is 36 metres long.

Here, a 300-tonne boom head is in use; this boom head is also used when the crane is deployed with a luffing jib. Both hoist winches were in use here.

The cutterhead shield of the TBM is slowly being lifted. The cutterhead shield weighs 110 tonnes.

Two other Kobelco crawler cranes were also present on the construction site; they are a Kobelco CKS1350 and a Kobelco CKE800 of Sin Heng.

In total, the SL6000 is lifting 123 tonnes here; the heavy 200-tonne hook weighs 7 tonnes and the slings weigh approximately 6 tonnes. The cutterhead shield was lifted out of the shaft at a radius of 15 metres.

The crane slews 180 degrees with the load.

The cutterhead shield will be placed on the ground.

The cutterhead shield was placed on the ground relatively quickly. As it will no longer be used, it will be cut into smaller pieces for transport to the scrap dealer. A very fine lift by Bok Seng!
