The impressive Sany SAC6000 of Hiap Tong from Singapore (SG) was deployed during the dismantling of multiple harbour cranes. It is a 600-tonne crane mounted on an 8-axle carrier from the year of manufacture 2019.

The carrier is powered by a Mercedes-Benz OM 502 LA, an 8-cylinder diesel engine with an output of 480 kW (653 hp). Axles 1, 2, 4, 5 and 8 are driven.

The outrigger base measures 10.8 x 10.8 metres.

Hiap Tong operates two cranes of this type; the other crane is deployed from the branch in Malaysia.

135 tonnes of ballast are mounted on the superstructure. This consists of a 30-tonne base plate with five slabs and two blocks of 15 tonnes each. The crane's maximum ballast is 165 tonnes.

The main boom has a base length of 17.1 metres and extends six times to a maximum length of 90 metres. Here, the main boom is telescoped to a length of 84.2 metres. In this configuration, the crane can lift a maximum of 62 tonnes at a radius of 14 metres or 3.4 tonnes at a radius of up to 72 metres.

The crane was to lower the upper part of the A-frame of the old harbour crane. The harbour crane was to be demolished completely.

The crane is equipped with a 13.5-tonne hoist winch. Here, work was carried out with a 3-sheave 80-tonne hook with six falls of rope.

After a few hours with the cutting torch, the upper part finally comes free. The top section hangs perfectly straight in the crane and weighs approximately 26 tonnes.

A very impressive crane and operation by Hiap Tong!
