Transport of a skid by Bok Seng

A large skid intended for an FPSO vessel was brought by pontoon to a Bok Seng yard in Singapore (SG). To drive the skid off the pontoon, Bok Seng deployed a MAN TGS 40.540 with a number of Scheuerle K25 axle lines.

With the aid of the hydraulic system, the platform trailer can be moved vertically in order to take over the load from the supports. In the meantime, the first metres have also already been driven on the pontoon, up to the ramp.

To drive the skid off the pontoon, a clever ramp has been prepared. Due to the tides, the transport has to be carried out within a short time window; otherwise, the height difference between the pontoon and the quay becomes too great!

The MAN TGS 40.540 is already almost on the quay. Being hauled is a 12-axle trailer, consisting of two 6-axle modules and a short spacer bridge simulating a length of three axle lines.

The axle lines of the Scheuerle K25 trailer can compensate for height differences of up to 680 mm.

The load is 21.01 metres long, 10.19 metres wide and 8.54 metres high.

The weight of the skid is 155.2 tonnes.

The skid is slowly and professionally driven off the pontoon. The three driven axles of the MAN provide sufficient traction.

Almost the entire combination has now reached dry land.

The load is an 'oil metering skid' and will therefore be deployed on an FPSO vessel to measure, among other things, oil volumes.

The trailer is operated from the front of the trailer.

The fine MAN TGS 40.540 of Bok Seng is equipped with a ballast box. The ballast box itself weighs 5 tonnes, and it contains a 10-tonne ballast slab.

The skid will be stored temporarily at the Bok Seng yard and is therefore being set back onto supports. Once again, a very fine and impressive ro-ro operation carried out by the professionals of Bok Seng!
