Sumitomo

Sumitomo entered crane manufacturing after the Second World War, with its roots in steam draglines and clamshell machines from 1949. In 1955 the company launched the SK4 wheel crane, followed by larger truck and crawler cranes. A major step came in 1962, when Sumitomo entered a technical partnership with Link-Belt, leading to the Sumitomo-Link-Belt LS and HC series. Sumitomo later developed its own hydraulic crawler cranes, including the LS-RH, HD and SC series, with large models such as the 750-ton SC8000. In 2002 Sumitomo merged its crawler-crane business with Hitachi’s to form Hitachi Sumitomo, which became Sumitomo Heavy Industries Construction Cranes / HSC CRANES in 2018.
